This application guide provides information on our tuition fee exemption and other financial assistance programs available to regular undergraduate and graduate students, which are administered independently by UOsaka.

If you wish to apply for the AY2026 enrollment fee exemption program for October enrollees and 2nd semester (October–March) tuition fee exemption program as a result of being affected by the 2026 Kumamoto Earthquake, please submit your application under this program.
*Due to budgetary limitations and other factors, exemption may not be granted in all cases.

This application guide is intended for undergraduate students of Japanese nationality and other eligible residents (including Special Permanent Residents and Permanent Residents) seeking tuition and fee exemptions.
This program is not available to graduate students or international students. Please be aware that different application guidelines apply depending on the grant-type scholarship application category.

Change to an earlier application schedule for current students applying for The University of Osaka Enrollment/Tuition Fee Exemption Program beginning in the first Semester of AY2025

Beginning with applications for tuition fees for the first Semester of AY2025 (April–September), the application period for The University of Osaka Enrollment/Tuition Fee Exemption Program will be changed for current students only (excluding those expected to enroll in April 2025). Accordingly, related information has been posted and updated on the Application Information page.
Please refer to the application guidelines, which are scheduled to be published at the end of January 2025, for further details.
-There are no plans for any significant changes to the application period for new students (those enrolling or expected to enroll in April 2025) compared with previous years.
-There are no plans for significant changes to the tuition exemption application process under the Higher Educational Support Program compared with previous years.
