Instructions

To apply for an exemption, peruse the Instructions noted below and complete the procedures before the given deadline.

Applicants must complete registration through the Application System and submit necessary documents before the specified deadlines. Registrations/documents will not be accepted past their respective deadlines for any reason.

Applications will NOT be received after the deadline.

Tuition Fee waiver for students from families affected by COVID-19

From AY 2024, students will be eligible for the tuition fee waiver due to the COVID-19 pandemic (hereinafter COVID-19 Tuition Fee Waiver) only provided the following are met. Thus, the university will inform students who meet the requirements for COVID-19 Tuition Fee Waiver for AY2024 and beyond by the end of March.

To make an application, students must complete the procedures before the deadline after confirming the notification.

Eligibility Requirements

Regular students who meet the requirements in both (1) and (2) listed below:

  1. Individuals who either:
    (a) Received support from COVID-19 Tuition Fee Waiver for the second half (October~March) of AY2023, or
    (b) Received financial support for students from family affected by COVID-19 under the Financial Support System for Japanese and Permanent Resident Undergraduates during AY 2023 but will be ineligible for AY2024

    - AND -

  2. Individuals who either:
    (i) Are able to submit a certificate of receipt of financial benefits from the central and/or local government for those who suffered a loss of income due to the COVID-19 pandemic, or
    (ii) Whose primary income earner suffers from loss of income, less than half of that of the previous year (2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, or 2023) due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

  1. New students require an "initial password for new students" for their first log in (which is described in the Instructions).
  2. Please complete procedures after reading the System Manual found in the top right corner of the Application System page.
