Global Village

In the year leading up to Osaka University’s 90th and Osaka University of Foreign Studies’ 100th anniversary, OU opened two new dormitories, Global Village Tsukumodai (in October 2020) and Global Village Minoh Semba (in April 2021), to become an active player as a leading innovative university that contributes to social change.

(Improvement, maintenance, and management of these dormitories are carried out under a private finance initiative arrangement.)

Global Village Tsukumodai

Global Village Tsukumodai, the largest student/faculty dormitory complex in the country (some 400 units for students and some 400 units for faculty and staff), fosters interaction between its residents in a global living environment.

Moving forward, Global Village Tsukumodai will serve not only as a housing facility, but also as a hub for global human resources development.

Global Village will focus its efforts on exchange between different cultures and with local communities by providing unique educational programs, such as Tsukumodai Seminars, Cross-Cultural Understanding Programs, and Co-Creative Workshops.

Global Village Minoh Semba

Global Village Minoh Semba was established as a part of Osaka University’s new urban campus that borders the new Minō-Semba-Handaimae Station on the Kita Osaka Kyuko Railway (to be opened in 2023). This composite facility is composed of student dormitories (320 residential units) and adjunct private shopping establishments, providing Japanese and international students with a place for cultural exchange.
