Whistleblowing
Osaka University receives reports of misconduct through the following whistleblower hotline.
What is whistleblowing?
Whistleblowing is the lawful disclosure of wrongdoing by members within the workplace. Osaka University has a whistleblowing hotline (or whistleblowing system), a service that helps employees and others report malpractice and unlawful or unethical behavior within the workplace.
Who can be a whistleblower?
Officials, faculty and staff members of Osaka University, including individuals who engage in work at the university under temporary employment contract or other agreements with the university, as well as those individuals who were employed by Osaka University within one year of the date of whistleblowing.
**Whistleblowing from parties unaffiliated with Osaka University will be handled according to the regulations regarding the protection of whistleblowers at Osaka University.
Protection of whistleblowers
Individuals will not suffer any disadvantages by whistleblowing. Investigators are required by law to maintain confidentiality of information to identify the whistleblower.
**However, those who made a false report with fraudulent intent, such as defaming others, may receive penalties according to Osaka University's Work Regulations.
Whistleblowing process
You can file a whistleblower complaint with the university via telephone, postal mail, email, fax, or in person with your name and contact details (phone number and email address).
However, if decisive evidence (such as documents, photos, or email) of the violation is provided by the whistleblower, the university will accept anonymous reporting.
The anonymous whistleblower will not be informed of the outcome of the investigation.
To make a report via postal mail, email, or fax, fill out a Whistleblowing Form (PDF/Word) and send it to the whistleblowing hotline noted below.
If you would like to make a report in person, please send an Interview Application Form (PDF/Word) to the whistleblowing hotline noted below. We will inform you of the time, date, and location of your interview.
