Preventing all types of Harassment

Stop All Harassment!

Osaka University's Goal: ZERO Harassment!

In order to maintain an environment supportive of education, research, and work, Osaka University works to prevent and eliminate all forms of harassment.

The Act on General Promotion of Labor Policy was revised in June 2020, enhancing measures to prevent harassment in the workplace.

In accordance with this revision, the university will take an even stricter stance against harassment in order to foster and maintain a healthy and comfortable campus environment free of harassment.

Three principles of harassment prevention measures at Osaka University:

  1. Don't overlook it
  2. Don't allow it
  3. Deal with it strictly
Harassment takes many forms. We aim to eliminate these 4!
  • Sexual Harassment

Sexual harassment refers to any unwanted sexual comments or behavior by a faculty, staff, or student directed at another faculty, staff, student, or other person -- unwanted sexual comments or behavior that takes advantage of the relationship(s) between the offender and victim.

  • Maternity/Child-Rearing Harassment

Maternity/Child-Rearing Harassment refers to any unwanted comments or behavior by a faculty, staff, or student directed at another faculty, staff, student, or other individual regarding pregnancy, childbirth, leave taken due to pregnancy, childbirth, child-rearing, or long-term care of a family member, or use of other related systems or measures.

  • Academic Harassment

Academic harassment refers to any inappropriate and unfair comments or behavior by faculty, staff, or student about another individual’s research, education, or study -- comments and behavior unfairly and inappropriately taking advantage of the offender’s official position, authority, or relationship(s) with the victim.

  • Power Harassment

Primarily a labor issue, power harassment refers to any inappropriate and unfair comments or behavior by faculty or staff about the work of another faculty or staff member -- comments or behavior unfairly and inappropriately taking advantage of the offender’s official position, authority, or relationship(s) with the victim.
