Procedure for Managing Conflicts of Interest
Conflict of Interest Disclosure Statement
- A disclosure statement should be submitted once a year.
- Scope: This procedure applies to OU employees, including officers, full-time education and research faculty and staff, temporary full-time education and research staff (excluding dental junior-residents), faculty and staff engaging in industry-academia-government collaboration with corporations with which they have a vested interest, and faculty and staff with a vested interest in foreign governments, institutes, universities, etc.
- The above-mentioned employees must submit a disclosure statement that contains details regarding their vested interest in corporations and foreign institutions as well as the status of industry-university-government collaboration activity carried out with any entities with which they have a vested interest.
- The Conflict of Interest (COI) Committee will examine disclosure statement and request follow-up interviews if additional information is required.
- The university will make recommendations for improvement if deemed necessary as a result of the disclosure statement and interview.

Self-reports on conflict of interest management for Health and Labour Sciences Research Grants (HLSRG) from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare and for Grants from the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED)
- Scope: This procedure applies to faculty and staff at the university who are involved in research using HLSRG and grants from AMED for which COI management is required
- Submission period: From the start of application of project proposal until the time of submission of a grant application form or until the conclusion of a consignment contract.
- The COI Committee will examine self-reports and interview if additional information is required.
