Conflict of Interest (COI) Disclosure Statement
Objective
As industry-academia-government collaboration with private corporations and exchange with foreign institutes deepens and develops, conflict of interest* between the university, its faculty and staff, and foreign institutes is inevitable. As there is no absolute standard for conflict of interest, the issue then becomes how conflict of interest is viewed by society, requiring accountability and transparency.
*Conflict of Interest occurs when profit acquired by faculty and staff members through industry-academia-government collaboration activities or through international exchange, conflict with the university’s responsibility for education and research.
The purpose of Conflict of Interest (COI) Disclosure Statement is to eliminate any concerns over the industry-academia-government collaboration activities or international exchange so that OU faculty and staff members can reach their full potential and to ensure transparency in relationships and maintain the objectivity and integrity of research at OU.
