[Nobel Diary Day 9] The Final Day of Nobel Week 2025 Has Come

Amidst enthusiasm and celebration, the final day of Nobel Week ‘s official event has come.

Distinguished Honorary Professor Shimon Sakaguchi visited the Karolinska Institute, the selection committee for the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, the field in which he received the award. In the evening, he attended the final reception where all the laureates assembled.

At 10:00 in the morning, Professor Sakaguchi visited the Nobel Forum at the Karolinska Institute in the suburbs of Stockholm. At the gathering titled "Meet the Nobel Prize Laureates," he participated alongside his co-recipients Mary E. Brunkow and Frederick J. Ramsdell. After that, he attended a luncheon where the Nobel Prize winners in Physiology or Medicine were altogether.

In the afternoon, as there was some time between official events, Professor Sakaguchi visited the Vasa Museum, where a huge battleship Vasa that had sunk in the 17th century, is on display as it was. He toured on board the Vasa, which is only open to the king, state guests, and Nobel Prize winners, and enjoyed signing the guest book.

At 5:00 in the evening, he moved to the venue in the city center for the final reception hosted by the Nobel Foundation. This was a farewell party where all the laureates who had spent the past week together assembled, bringing Nobel Week to a close.

Finally, Professor Sakaguchi expressed his gratitude to the Nobel Attaché Anna, who had been so helpful as an assistant during the week, and took a commemorative photo together.
