Preparation in Advance of Approaching Typhoon #15 (Thursday, September 4)
This is an announcement from the University of Osaka regarding the approaching Typhoon #15, which formed on September 4. It is forecast to bring heavy rain accompanied by localized thunderstorms from the early evening of the 4th through the afternoon of the 5th, and it is expected to pass closest to Osaka Prefecture from the morning through the afternoon of September 5.
UOsaka students, faculty, and staff should stay up to date on the latest typhoon information via television, radio, and/or the internet and prepare for potential severe weather.
Visitors should confirm directly with event organizers for information regarding cancellations or delays of events at the University of Osaka.
Points of Caution
Regarding classes held in intensive courses
These classes will be handled in the same manner as regular classes, so please reference the information at the link below.
*Due to the summer holidays, the Inter-Campus Shuttle Bus is currently out of service (August 8 ~ September 30).
Preventing damage/injuries from things which can fall from balconies, etc.
- Remove flower pots, tools, and other items from balconies.
- Make sure doors and windows are latched.
Preventing water damage
- Shut and properly seal doors and windows to prevent wind and rain from entering inside the room/building.
Outdoor safety management
- In the case of outdoor research or extracurricular activities -- in the mountains, at the river or sea -- keep up with the latest weather information and make a safe action plan.
Other information
- If a drain or ditch is blocked with things such as dead leaves, poor drainage may cause flooding. Please check to make sure drains and ditches are clean.
