Title of the University of Osaka Global Alumni Fellow awarded to Principal Researcher Lee Young Ho

On June 25, 2025, the title-awarding ceremony for the University of Osaka Global Alumni Fellow took place at the university, and Principal Researcher Lee Young Ho of the Korea Basic Science Institute was awarded the title by Senior Executive Vice President Yasushi Fujio. The title of Global Alumni Fellow is conferred on UOsaka alumni who are active overseas in building an international network.

After completing his doctoral program at the Graduate School of Science at the University of Osaka, Dr. Lee worked as a faculty member at our Institute for Protein Research. He is currently engaged in cutting-edge pharmaceutical research at the Korea Basic Science Institute, where he is actively conducting collaborative research using the ultra-high magnetic field NMR, while also accepting graduate students from the University of Osaka.

At the ceremony, Senior Executive Vice President Fujio explained the significance of the title and asked for Dr. Lee’s continued support in serving as a bridge for education and research between UOsaka and South Korea, as well as enhancing the UOsaka alumni active in South Korea.

The ceremony was held in the presence of his contact person, Professor Genji Kurisu of the Institute for Protein Research, as well as Professor Atsushi Nakagawa of the same Institute. With Dr. Lee expressing his desire to further deepen collaboration with the University of Osaka through joint research and student exchanges, a lively exchange of opinion took place. In addition, they discussed a wide range of topics, including the current situation of accepting international students at the Institute for Protein Research.
