The Charm of Nakanoshima to the world - Report on the Opening Ceremony of the "Nakanoshima Pavilion Festival 2025"

The "Nakanoshima Pavilion Festival 2025" will be held in conjunction with the Expo Osaka Kansai 2025 and will offer a variety of programs for visitors to experience the diverse attractions of Nakanoshima, known as a center of academia, economy, and business as well as home to some of the world-class cultural facilities."

On May 10, 2025, the opening ceremony was held at RIHGA Royal Hotel Osaka, with representatives of many sponsoring companies in attendance.

At the beginning of the ceremony, Executive Committee Chairman Shojiro Nishio (former President of the University of Osaka) delivered a speech, reaffirming his determination to strive to make Nakanoshima, a base for academics, arts, and economy, more widely recognized as a symbolic island that represents the water metropolis of Osaka.

Next, Masato Namba, Chairman of Takenaka Corporation, gave a lecture on the rich culture and history of Nakanoshima, tracing its steps back in time.

The ceremony served as a meaningful opportunity to share the excitement of the “Nakanoshima Pavilion Festival 2025” with everyone including the University of Osaka and other related parties and sponsoring companies, as well as to confirm their determination for future development.

The “Nakanoshima Pavilion Festival 2025” will be held during the following periods:　
[Spring Festival] Saturday, May 10, 2025 - Sunday, May 25, 2025
[Autumn Festival] Saturday, September 27, 2025 - Monday, October 13, 2025
