July 2023 designated Diversity and Inclusion Month at OU: To increase the proportion of female researchers

Osaka University promotes efforts to cultivate an inclusive campus climate where diverse people can thrive beyond differences in gender, sexual orientation/gender identity, cultural background, age, values, and disability.

Also, to boost the number of female researchers, who remain a minority in all of the places, OU strives to improve gender diversity in science by supporting activity of asiam, a network for female students in natural sciences at OU, promoting its “Program for Promoting Activity of Female Innovators,” and recognizing scientific achievements by conferring Science Awards for Female Graduate Students, and more.

In addition, schools and graduate schools at OU are promoting their specific plans to achieve the proportion of female researchers at the university to 30% by the 100th anniversary of its founding in 2031.

Designating this July “Diversity and Inclusion Month,” OU will deliver an e-magazine entitled “Starting with Learning about D&I” to its faculty and staff members and hold various D&I seminars and training programs sponsored by the D&I Center from June through October.
