Students from Ukraine express gratitude to President Nishio
In response to the crisis in Ukraine, Osaka University announced on April 22, 2022 that it would accept students and researchers facing difficulty in continuing their studies and research and offer educational and research opportunities including support in daily life. (Click here for details.)
Since the announcement, the university has made preparations to accept students from Ukraine while replying to inquiries from applicants, with two of those students arriving safely at the university in late May 2022.
The two students visited President NISHIO Shojiro on Friday, June 10, 2022 to express their gratitude for the university’s support.
They had previously spent a year studying Japanese language and culture at Osaka University’s Center for Japanese Language and Culture (CJLC), and as they were also majoring in Japanese language and culture at their home university in Ukraine, the students were once again accepted to the CJLC.
After expressing his sympathy for the students’ situation, President Nishio spoke with the students, along with Director KATO Hitoshi and Associate Professor FUJIHIRA Manami of the CJLC. Following a pleasant meeting, commemorative photos were taken of the attendees.
