Regarding COVID-19 infections at Osaka University (4)

Since the initial COVID-19 case announced on Tuesday, November 10, 14 of the 16 individuals identified as high-risk contacts for this initial case have tested positive for COVID-19.

All but one of the 30 individuals identified as close contact to the additional 14 individuals tested negative for COVID-19. No high-risk contacts of this additional case have been identified.

Investigations and PCR testing of all identified high-risk contacts has been completed, bringing the total number of infections related to the initial COVID-19 case to 16.

The 16 infected individuals are being treated at medical institutions or designated lodging facilities. In addition, those who tested negative will remain at home for a period of time designated by a health center.

These COVID-19 cases are linked to students dining together, with no spread of infection identified on any of OU’s campuses.

In the wake of these COVID-19 cases, the university has once again reminded its students, faculty, and staff members to take measures to prevent the spread of the virus.

We will continue to do all that we can to prevent the spread of COVID-19 at Osaka University.
