University of Groningen Short Study Program (AY2023)


Program Overview
This program, offered at the University of Groningen, one of OU’s Global Knowledge Partners, places an emphasis on engaging participants in the comprehensive development of English presentation, communication, and writing skills, as well as in the understanding of how people in the country build relationships with those from other cultures and their efforts to solve global issues. Participants in this program will attend OU's International Exchange Subject: Intercultural Experience in the Netherlands (Spring). Those who complete this program will receive academic credit and an academic assessment based on the criteria specified in the syllabus.

Introduction to the Program


Interaction with University of Groningen Staff and Students
Campus tours are given by staff and student representatives at the University of Groningen, providing participants with many opportunities to improve their English communication skills.




Classes in English
This program is designed to enhance presentation, communication, and writing skills in English and to deepen the understanding of how people from diverse cultural backgrounds live in the society of the Netherlands and their efforts to solve global issues.




Participation in Student Symposium
Students participated in the Student Symposium hosted by OU and the University of Groningen in which students from both universities joined in discussions and games to learn about environmental issues.




Farewell Party at the University of Groningen
At the farewell party held at end of the program, the program participants enjoyed friendly conversations with students and staff from the University of Groningen. One of the staff members mentioned that participants’ English communication skills had improved since the program began.


European Office for Global Initiatives
One of Osaka University’s 4 Overseas Centers is located at the University of Groningen. The faculty and staff from the European Office for Global Initiatives and the University of Groningen will provide detailed support to participants throughout the program, so participants can have peace of mind during their stay.
