U7+ Alliance of World Universities

When France hosted the G7 summit in 2019, in response to a call from Sciences Po and other universities in France, the U7+ Alliance of World Universities, a coalition of university presidents, was established under the patronage of French President Emmanuel Macron.

Presidents from influential universities in G7 nations were invited to join this coalition, which elevated many universities’ expectations of enhancing their reputation and strengthening their ties with other universities. The coalition now has over 50 universities from more than 20 nations, including G7 member nations.

This coalition aims to discuss global challenges such as climate change and social divide as proactive global actors and collectively address them and present policy proposals to the G7 Summit.

Osaka University has been involved in various endeavors since it joined the coalition in 2019.
