For Graduate Students and International Students

For Japanese Undergraduate Students

As a rule, we ask that eligible students apply to the Financial Support System for Japanese and Permanent Resident Undergraduates ("Higher Education Support System"). Those who are ineligible should apply to the Enrollment/Tuition Fee Exemption Program (OU Support System).

Eligibility Requirements for Each Exemption Program

・As a rule, Osaka University financially supports Japanese undergraduate students enrolling in the 2021-22 academic year onward via the Higher Education Support System.

・The university allows students who do not meet the requirements for the Higher Education Support System and students with an undergraduate degree and transfer students with an undergraduate degree*1 to apply for the OU Support System, providing financial support within the limits of its budget via screening of eligible candidates.

・Osaka University will also financially support Japanese undergraduate students who enrolled in and before the 2020-21 academic year via the OU Support System for the time being as transitional measures. However, students eligible to receive financial support via the Higher Education Support System should complete the procedures for enrollment/tuition fee exemption via the Higher Education Support System as well as for grant-type scholarships from the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO).

・Since the Higher Education Support System is not intended for privately-funded international students and graduate students, Osaka University supports them via the OU Support System.
