Osaka University Alumni Reunion in Tokyo

The Osaka University Alumni Reunion in Tokyo is an event held in December at which alumni and related individuals from Osaka University and Osaka University of Foreign Studies residing in the Kanto area can get together and deepen their ties as members of the OU family. Even if you're not currently residing in the Kanto area, you're still welcome to attend! We encourage you to brings friends and family to this event as well. We hope to see you there!

11th Osaka University Alumni Reunion in Tokyo (Saturday, December 7, 2019)

The Osaka University Alumni Reunion in Tokyo was held on December 7 at the Tokyo International Forum in Yurakucho, Tokyo.

In part 1 of the reunion, KAWAMURA Hiromi (Graduate, School of Human Sciences/PR Secretary, Tokyo Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games (TOCOG)) delivered a lecture entitled “Latest News on the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games – How Mega Sports Events Influence Society.”

The social gathering in part 2 of the reunion was held in a light and lively atmosphere thanks in no small part to YAMAMOTO Kahoko's brilliant work as MC of the reunion. The Osaka University Cheerleading Party took the stage for a song and dance performance to wrap up the reunion.

10th Osaka University Alumni Reunion in Tokyo (December 2018)

On Saturday, December 1, 2018, the 10th Osaka University Alumni Reunion in Tokyo was held for the first time at the Tokyo International Forum.

In part 1 of the reunion, OU-born professional a cappella group INSPi made an appearance for a live stage performance. The group performed 7 numbers including their rendition of “Kono ki nan no ki?” featured in Hitachi commercials. After this, Makthy, a group in the Osaka University A Cappella Club “inspiritual voices,” teamed up with INSPi to deliver a rendition of "Ue o Muite Aruko" that enveloped the venue in an intoxicating melody.

In part 2, a social gathering was held to rekindle old friendships and make some new ones while making for a lively venue. Signed INSPi CDs were on sale at the reunion, with attendees able to get commemorative photos taken with the group as well.

Finally, the Osaka University Cheerleading Party took the stage for a song and dance performance to wrap up the reunion.

9th Osaka University Alumni Reunion in Tokyo (Saturday, December 2, 2017)

On Saturday, December 2, the 9th Osaka University Alumni Reunion in Tokyo was held at Gakushikaikan in Kanda, Tokyo, with some 550 members of the OU Family living in the Kanto Area, including Osaka University alumni and related individuals, in attendance.

President Nishio spoke about recent events at Osaka University during the ceremony in Part 1, which was followed by announcements regarding remarkable achievements by alumni and current students and introductions of trustees and deans.

Later, for the first time at the Tokyo Alumni Reunion, a live stage performance featuring KIYAMA Yusaku (1992 graduate of the Osaka University of Foreign Studies) was held, with Mr. Kiyama singing 5 of his songs, including his debut hit "home," and his newest track " Tabidachi ," enchanting attendees with his powerful voice and touching melodies.

Following the performance, the talk between MC and NHK Announcer MORITA Marie (2017 graduate of the School of Foreign Studies) and Mr. Kiyama livened up the venue, with colorful banter and memorable quotes such as Ms. Morita's reaction to Mr. Kiyama's graduation year: "You graduated from OU the year I was born!"

The social gathering in part 2 of the reunion was kicked off by a lively toast from Mr. SHIMO Yoshihiro (2008 graduate of the School of Science), who is celebrating the 10th anniversary of his graduation from OU. At the raffle during the gathering, winners were delighted to receive CDs signed by Mr. Kiyama and OU Coffee from President Nishio.

Finally, the Osaka University Cheerleading Party put the wraps on the event with an energetic performance.

This alumni reunion saw a large increase in younger attendees, with individuals celebrating the 10th anniversary of their undergraduate or graduate school graduation receiving a special invitation to this reunion. Over 50 of these alumni were in attendance, making for a lively venue full of reunions with old friends and even some brand new acquaintances.

8th Osaka University Alumni Reunion in Tokyo (Saturday, December 3, 2016)

On Saturday, December 3, 2016, the "Osaka University Alumni Reunion in Tokyo" was held at Gakushikaikan in Kanda, Tokyo. A record 560 graduates from Osaka University and Osaka University of Foreign Studies, the majority living in the Kanto region of eastern Japan, came together as an OU Family.

In the ceremony and lecture held during the first part of the Reunion, Osaka University President NISHIO Shojiro gave a speech on current events at Osaka University, 12th President of Osaka University and Director of the Osaka University Federation of Alumni Associations KUMAGAI Nobuaki greeted attendees, and KUBO Keiichi (Chair, the Tokyo Branch of the Osaka University School of Economics Alumni Association "Tokyo Machikanekai") gave a report on recent activities as Representative of the Kanto/Tokyo Branch of the Federation of Alumni Associations.

Following this, TOYOSHIMA Koji (1985 graduate of the School of Engineering; Chief Engineer for Prius, Mid-size Vehicle Company MSZ ZF,  Toyota Motor Corporation), gave a lecture entitled "Toyota and Me - Looking Back on my 30-Year Ride with Toyota." Attendees listened intently to Mr. Toyoshima's intriguing lecture.

The social gathering in the second part of the Reunion was kicked off with a toast by ONOE Yuki (Chair, Osaka University North American Alumni Association). For this Reunion, a special invitation was sent to those alumni celebrating their 10th year since graduation, filling the room with the joy of reuniting with old friends from and having friendly conversation. The deans in attendance were also able to deepen their connections with OU alumni. An enjoyable time was had by thanks to our bright and cheerful MC OGAWA Mayu (freelance announcer; 2008 graduate, School of Foreign Studies).
