Guidelines for establishing Archive Repository
We mentioned in the April 2006 issue of
News from the Trustees' Conference Room
that the Archive Repository Preparation Office would be established during this academic year in order to achieve an Archive Repository in 2010 when the next mid-term goal period starts. The Archive Repository Preparation Office was set up on July 1, 2006.
The office is in the faculty staff room on the third floor at the Education Training Building of the Cybermedia Center in front of the School of Engineering Science on the Toyonaka campus. The purposes and business of the office are noted below.
ABE Takeshi, professor at the Graduate School of Economics, was appointed as the first director of the room by the president. A full-time lecturer will be assigned to the room on October 1 and screening is under way.
The Archive Repository Preparation Office will conduct surveys and collect information about official documents kept in the Administration Bureau and documents regarding the history of Osaka University kept by laboratories in order to publish a 100-year history of the university. Osaka University seeks cooperation in this matter from schools.
Guidelines for the Establishment of the Archive Repository Preparation Office
Article 1

Establishment
In order to prepare for establishing the Archive Repository for the purposes of collecting, organizing, and releasing documents on the history of Osaka University, the Archive Repository Preparation Office shall be set up.
Article 2

Duties
Business conducted by the Preparation Office are:
- Collection, organization, and storage of documents regarding the history of Osaka University.
- Surveys on documents regarding the history of Osaka University.
- Other things necessary for establishing the Archive Repository.
Article 3 . Director
- A director shall be placed in the Preparation Office.
- The director of the room shall be chosen from OU faculty members and appointed by the president.
- The director of the Preparation Office shall be responsible for the services of the office.
- The term of the director shall be two years. However, directors may be eligible for reappointment.
Article 4 . Full-time instructor
- A full-time lecturer shall be placed in the Archive Repository Preparation Office.
- The full-time lecturer shall perform duties as instructed by the Head.
- Other than the full-time lecturer specified above, necessary staff may be assigned.
Article 5 . Office work
Work regarding the Archive Repository Preparation Office shall be conducted by the Planning and Implementation Division, Department of General Affairs in cooperation with offices associated with the Administration Bureau.

Miscellaneous
Any matters not covered in these regulations, but requiring action for the Archive Repository Preparation Office shall be decided by the president.
Supplementary provision
This revision will be in effect from July 1, 2006.
