Osaka University-RIKEN Center for Science and Technology

On August 1, 2018, the Osaka University-RIKEN Center for Science and Technology (the Center) was established in order to develop conventional project-based collaborative relationships between OU and RIKEN into inter-organizational collaboration and further strengthen their collaborative system.

RIKEN aims to work together with universities all over Japan to enhance scientific capabilities and form organizations that function as science and technology hubs for creating innovation through collaboration with research institutes, universities, and industrial circles both inside and outside of Japan.

As a hub for creating innovation at OU, RIKEN established the above-mentioned Center and has performed integrated research in the field of systems science of biological dynamics at its Quantitative Biology Engineering Research Section.

In July 2023, RIKEN dissolved the Harima Center for Photon Sciences at RIKEN SPring-8 Center (RSC), which was established in October 2014 as a place for realizing open innovation in the field of photon quantum science, to form a new organization, the Photon Science Collaboration Section, at the Center.

To further enhance collaboration with RIKEN, OU has established more joint research divisions in photon science through collaboration with RIKEN and other private companies.
