To Students
Have prior knowledge of public research funds to avoid getting into unnecessary trouble
Maintaining university operations is expensive. Expenditures include the purchase of services or goods, such as desks and chairs in the classrooms, books in the library, electricity bills for AC and water bills for toilets for comfortable student life. Additionally, funds are required for purchasing computers for faculty to write papers, conducting their research overseas, hiring part-time workers to organize their materials, and buying equipment for research and animals for experiments.
The money used for activity at the university is called “public research funds” because the university is greatly supported by taxpayers’ money. Thus, even unintentional violations of usage rules, be it due to a lack of knowledge of the relevant rules or even when it just slips your mind, can be regarded as misuse of public research funds.
Leaflets describing examples of misuse of public research funds are posted below. Information on the Compliance Hotline Service and Internal Report Desk are also included in the leaflets. In addition, videos detailing misuse of public research funds are available for viewing on MyHandai.
Please be careful not to be accuse of misuse of public research funds so that you can have a fulfilling life at Osaka University.
