We would like to express our heartfelt condolences to those who lost their lives in the major earthquake that struck Kumamoto Prefecture on July 28, 2026. We also extend our deepest sympathies to all those affected by this devastating disaster and to the bereaved families.

As the full extent of the devastation has become increasingly apparent, we have been filled with profound sorrow and remain concerned for all those who continue to face anxiety and uncertainty as aftershocks persist.
We are deeply mindful of the immense hardship and distress being endured by those facing extremely difficult circumstances amid intense heat and disruptions to essential infrastructure. We also express our sincere respect and gratitude to all those who are working tirelessly to provide assistance to those affected and to support the recovery and reconstruction of the impacted communities under these challenging circumstances.

On behalf of all faculty and staff, we sincerely hope that no further damage will occur, that safety and security will be restored to the affected communities without delay, and that all those impacted will be able to return to safe, peaceful, and normal lives as soon as possible.
