Disciplinary action taken against a staff member

The University of Osaka took the following disciplinary action against a staff member on July 15, 2026.

・Disciplined Individual: Academic Staff (Endowed Chair) (Male, 40s)
・Disciplinary Action: suspension for one month
・Case Summary:
The individual subject to disciplinary action engaged in conduct that constituted a violation of the Osaka Prefectural Ordinance on the Prevention of Violent and Disorderly Acts that Cause Serious Public Nuisance.
The conduct of the individual subject to disciplinary action constituted a violation of laws and regulations and was detrimental to the order, discipline, and decorum of the University of Osaka. As such, it cannot be overlooked, a one-month suspension was imposed pursuant to Article 33, Section 1, Items 6 and 9, and Section 2, Item 3 of the Work Regulations for National University Corporation the University of Osaka Limited Term Staff.

It has come to light that a faculty member of our university engaged in conduct that constituted a violation of the Osaka Prefectural Ordinance on the Prevention of Violent and Disorderly Acts that Cause Serious Public Nuisance. We deeply regret that such an incident has occurred and would like to extend our heartfelt apologies to all those concerned. Such conduct is incompatible with the responsibilities of a faculty member, who is expected to engage in education and research with the highest ethical standards. Accordingly, the University of Osaka has imposed strict disciplinary action.
We take this matter very seriously and will make every effort to ensure compliance with laws and regulations among its faculty and staff, enforce strict standards of conduct, and restore public trust.
