Send-Off Party Held for the 65th Seven Universities Meet
The opening of this year's Seven Universities Meet, known as the “Nanadai-Sen,” is drawing near.
On May 19, a send-off party was held at La Foret, a cafeteria on the Toyonaka Campus, for students participating in the 65th Seven Universities Meet.
The Seven Universities Meet is an athletics competition between seven national universities: Hokkaido University, Tohoku University, the University of Tokyo, Nagoya University, Kyoto University, the University of Osaka, and Kyushu University. Over 8,000 students participate in this meet each year, making it one of the largest student-led university sports competitions in Japan.
This year, Kyushu University will be hosting the Meet, so each team will head to Fukuoka for the competitions.
The send-off party was attended by President KUMANOGOH Atsushi, Senior Executive Vice President TANAKA Toshihiro (in charge of student support), Chair KAWAHARA Yukio (Student Life Committee), and student representatives from the participating teams.

The Seven Universities Meet is a competition in which rankings are determined across 45 scheduled events, with universities competing for the overall total points.
In ice hockey —one of the winter competitions held prior to the July opening ceremony—the team secured its first championship in 47 years.
Furthermore, the university also achieved remarkable results in skiing and aviation sports. As a result, with the winter and spring competitions now concluded, the University of Osaka is off to a strong start, currently holding the provisional first place in the overall standings.
