UOsaka Homecoming Day 2026 Held

UOsaka Homecoming Day 2026 took place on the Toyonaka campus on May 2, 2026.
The lecture session and social gathering were hosted by UEDA Etsuko (a 2000 graduate of the School of Human Sciences). Approximately 300 participants—including alumni of the University of Osaka and Osaka University of Foreign Studies, current students, parents, faculty, and staff—deepened their bonds as members of the “UOsaka family.”

The lecture session, held at the University of Osaka Hall, began with an update on the university from President KUMANOGOH Atsushi, followed by greetings from KISHIMOTO Tadamitsu, Chairman of the Federation of Alumni Associations of the University of Osaka.
Three UOsaka professors then delivered the following three lectures:

　・“Beyond the Energy Revolution: The Future Envisioned by Power Lasers” by Professor KODAMA Ryosuke, Graduate School of Engineering /Director of the Institute of Laser Engineering
・“Toward the Realization of a ‘Fukufuku’ Plurilingual and Pluricultural Society” by Professor SHIMIZU Masaaki, Graduate School of Humanities/ Director, Diversity & Community Engagement Research Center
・“Inflammatory Bowel Disease from the Perspective of Gut Bacteria—Insights from Basic and Clinical Research” by Associate Professor KAYAMA Hisako, Institute for Advanced Co-Creation Studies / Graduate School of Medicine

The social gathering held at cafeteria Kasane (in the UOsaka Student and Service Union) began with TAKEMURA Keiko, Executive Vice President, introducing the logo and slogan for UOsaka’s 100th anniversary in 2031. This was followed by a toast led by SHIRAKI Kazunari (Chairman of the University of Osaka Engineering Society), and the emcee UEDA Etsuko then interviewed several participants. The event served as a socializing opportunity, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere in which participants connected across faculties, graduate schools, and generations.
With closing remarks by MASAKI Toshihiro (Assistant Director at the Co-Creation Bureau), Homecoming Day 2026 concluded successfully.
