The Opening Ceremony for the Laboratory of Advanced Cosmetic Science Held

Following the establishment of the University of Osaka Laboratory of Advanced Cosmetic Science on April 1, 2026, an opening ceremony was held on Sunday, April 12 at the MA-T Co-Creation Centre (Anzu no Mori) on the Suita Campus.

In June 2015, the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Osaka and Mandom Corporation established a joint research course. Since then, the partnership has continued to advance efforts to apply cutting‑edge medical technologies—such as regenerative medicine—to cosmetic research, with the aim of delivering research results that provide meaningful value to consumers.

Over the approximately ten years of work conducted through the joint research course, both organizations have accumulated a significant amount of scientific knowledge that will contribute to next‑generation cosmetic development, including elucidating the structure and function of human sweat glands, clarifying their roles in skin immune responses, and exploring new cosmetic ingredients and establishing evaluation systems.

Based on these research achievements, the course was progressively transitioned into a collaborative research institute on April 1, 2026. This development aims to accelerate further research advancement and the application of its outcomes to business by leveraging a broader range of resources and promoting the cultivation of young researchers as well as the interaction of talent with diverse backgrounds, thereby fostering the creation of new value.

At the opening ceremony, remarks were delivered by President KUMANOGOH Atsushi of the University of Osaka, followed by an address from NISHIMURA Ken, Representative Director and President Executive Officer of Mandom Corporation. This was followed by congratulatory remarks from OGIWARA Hiroko, Representative Director of the Anzu no Mori Foundation, and the ceremony concluded with a ribbon‑cutting.
