eNewsletter Global Outlook's special issue celebrating International Women’s Day is now available
The University of Osaka is a global institution, bringing together diverse talents from Japan and around the world. The latest issue of Global Outlook (Vol. 22), our e-newsletter featuring the inspiring stories of leading researchers and alumni, has now been released.
This special edition celebrates International Women’s Day (8 March), highlighting remarkable research results and journey in their respective fields.
The special issue highlights the stories of five inspiring researchers whose work is opening new frontiers across a wide range of fields. They include Professor Kaori Fukuzawa of the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, a pioneering figure in in silico drug discovery in Japan, whose research employs quantum chemical calculations to advance new possibilities in drug design; Professor Emi Minamitani of the Institute of Scientific and Industrial Research (SANKEN), who has revealed hidden structures in amorphous materials through the innovative fusion of physics and topological data analysis; Associate Professor Wakako Maekawa of the Osaka School of International Public Policy, whose research focuses on the vulnerability of children and women in situations of conflict and explores the humanitarian crisis in the Sudanese civil war as well as the role of third-party intervention; Associate Professor (Lecturer) Miso Kim of the Graduate School of Humanities, who, drawing on her own experience of living in a translingual world, critically examines through applied linguistics how language, gender, social norms, and power shape social belonging and participation; and Dr. Yuka Ueda of the Graduate School of Engineering Science, who returned from the business world to the path of research, pursues the mystery of life’s adaptability, and aspires to become an engineering scientist with a truly global perspective.
Through these diverse perspectives, Global Outlook showcases how The University of Osaka fosters excellence, collaboration, and global impact across disciplines.
