University Consortium (SOLVE!) Hosts “Inter-University Exchange Social Issue Simulation & Community Co-creation Event”

On February 23 (a national holiday), Sophia University hosted the “Inter-University Exchange Social Issue Simulation & Community Co-creation Event.” This event was organized by the “Strategic Organization for Learning, Venturing, and Empowerment (SOLVE!)”, a university consortium for realizing a society based on mutual support, led by the Social Solutions Initiative (SSI) of the University of Osak a and Sophia University, with UOsaka participating as a member.

Over 30 students from across Japan, including nine from the University of Osaka. Through games and workshops, they engaged in lively discussions and presented proposals for solutions and ideas for sustaining initiatives addressing social issues such as “building communication between people with disabilities, foreign residents, and local communities,” “young carers,” and “promoting multicultural coexistence through food.”

Many participating students shared highly positive feedback, such as: “Interacting with students from other universities was stimulating,” “Exposure to diverse perspectives deepened our discussions,” and “I gained new insights and connections.”

The University of Osaka will continue to promote activities through the “Strategic Organization for Learning, Venturing, and Empowerment (SOLVE!)” with the aim of contributing to the achievement of the SDGs and the development of a post-SDGs society (a society of mutual support). By pioneering new interdisciplinary academic fields and engaging the next generation in social contribution and research activities, the university strives to help realize a society of mutual support.
