10th UOsaka Toyonaka Regional Meeting held
On Friday, December 5, 2025, the 10th UOsaka Toyonaka Regional Meeting was held in the International Building of the university’s Graduate School of Engineering Science. 239 faculty, staff, students, businesspersons, and citizens participated in the regional meeting, deepening exchange through poster presentations and information exchange sessions.
This annual meeting has been held since AY2016, under the theme of “Contributing to art-science integration, collaboration between fields, and industry-university co-creation,” leveraging the Toyonaka Campus's unique feature of bringing together humanities and sciences. Aiming to promote collaboration among researchers and provide a new hub for intellectual exchange, this year’s milestone 10th meeting marked a special occasion to reflect on its achievements to date while taking a new step forward.
The event began with an opening address by President Atsushi Kumanogoh, followed by a poster session featuring a total of 41 presentations: 40 presentations from 17 departments on the Toyonaka Campus, plus one by the Suntory Foundation from outside the university. Lively discussions transcending disciplinary boundaries took place, and the information exchange session that followed saw heated discussions unfold in a relaxed atmosphere, further deepening connection.
98% of respondents to the post-event survey answered they were fully satisfied or satisfied, indicating the evaluation of the event. Additionally, a survey of past presenters conducted to commemorate this milestone year reported feedback such as “It heightened my awareness of explaining research to those outside my expertise,” “It increased my motivation for research,” and “It expanded my professional network.” The significance of this exchange event was further reinforced by reports of instances when it acted as a impetus for launching collaborative research across the humanities and science disciplines.
We will continue to widely promote the appeal of the university's Toyonaka Campus, aiming to further deepen interdisciplinary collaboration between humanities and sciences as well as industry-academia-government-civil society collaboration, thereby nurturing this research exchange event as a long-lasting and fruitful platform.
