Conferment Ceremony Held for Medal of Honor with Dark Blue Ribbon at HANDAI Tokyo Square

Mr. ONO Katsuhiro received a Medal of Honor with a Dark Blue Ribbon* from the Japanese government for his generous financial contributions to the University of Osaka.

The conferment ceremony was held at the University of Osaka Tokyo Office on December 10, 2025, with Senior Advisor to the President MURAKAMI Shumei and others in attendance. Senior Executive Vice President FUJIO Yasushi conferred the medal to Mr. Ono, read aloud a letter of appreciation from President KUMANOGOH Atsushi, and expressed his gratitude for the donation.

His donation was used as “The University of Osaka Foundation for Future General Purpose Fund” for initiatives supporting students, education and research, international exchange, and social collaboration.

At the social gathering following the ceremony, Senior Executive Vice President Fujio once again expressed his gratitude to Ms. Ono and for his donation, while Mr. Ono shared his opinions and expectations about the university, his anecdotes about the challenges he faced while pursuing his doctoral degree abroad, and valuable insights related to the company where he served as an executive.

The Medal with Dark Blue Ribbon is awarded to individuals who have made exceptionally generous financial contributions for the good of the public. It is conferred when the occasion arises, after the Decoration Bureau of the Cabinet Office has screened the candidates recommended by relevant ministries.
