The Organization for Carbon Neutrality Collaboration (OCNC) at UOsaka Kickoff Symposium held

On November 4, 2025, the Organization for Carbon Neutrality Collaboration at the University of Osaka (OCNC) held a kickoff symposium at Congrès Square Grand Green Osaka in Osaka City. The event was attended by 170 people, from both within and outside UOsaka.

The symposium started with opening remarks by President KUMANOGOH Atsushi, followed by a keynote speech entitled "Trends in Green Transformation Policy" by IKEZONO Kyoka, Deputy Director of the GX Policy Group at Environmental Economy Office of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).

OCNC Director SHIMODA gave an explanation of the institution

Next, Director SHIMODA Yoshiyuki spoke about the background to the foundation of OCNC, its characteristics, and its future goals. Afterwards, leaders from each of the six groups presented their research: "Energy Supply" (Professor SHIGEMORI Keisuke, Institute of Laser Engineering), "Energy Management Devices" (Professor NAKANISHI Shuji, Graduate School of Engineering Science), "Smart Cities" (Professor SHIMODA Yoshiyuki, Graduate School of Engineering), "Smart Manufacturing" (Professor NAKANO Takayoshi, Graduate School of Engineering), "Biomanufacturing and Food" (Representative: Professor MATSUDA Fumio, Graduate School of Information Science and Technology), and "Social Systems to Achieve Carbon Neutrality" (Professor HARA Keishiro, Graduate School of Engineering).

Furthermore, 35 members of OCNC gave poster presentations at the dedicated venue, and actively discussed and interacted with the participants, creating a friendly and lively atmosphere throughout the event. Lastly, Executive Vice President ONOYE Takao gave the closing remarks, and the event ended in great success.

This symposium widely disseminated OCNC's role as an interdisciplinary base that integrates research, education, and social implementation toward the realization of a carbon-neutral society. It was an extremely meaningful opportunity to deepen collaboration with external organizations and promote the social implementation of findings of the research and information dissemination.
