Professor Emeritus KAWASHIMA Yasunaru selected for the 2025 Order of Culture

Professor Emeritus KAWASHIMA Yasunaru at the University of Osaka was selected for the 2025 Order of Culture. This marks the 23rd recipient from the University of Osaka, following Professor Sakaguchi　Shimon, a 2025 Nobel Prize laureate in Physiology or Medicine.

I would like to congratulate Professor Kawashima on receiving the Order of Culture. I deeply respect that his achievements, through years of significant contributions to advancing Japan's medical science and culture via the development of surgical science, have now been widely recognized. In addition to his outstanding research and clinical work, Professor Kawashima’s nurturing of numerous exceptional successors has had immeasurable value for the development of Japan's medical community.
His tireless spirit of inquiry, passion, and high aspirations still motivate and educate many medical professionals and researchers today. We strongly hope he will continue to illuminate the future of Japanese medicine and culture as a guiding light for the next generation.
