The Minoh City Senba Library (International Studies Library), operated by the University of Osaka, received the “Library of the Year 2025 Excellence Award” for its community engagement initiatives achieved through the collaborative operation of a university library and a municipal library.

The "Library of the Year" award is presented annually by the NPO Intellectual Resources Initiative (IRI) to institutions engaged in cutting-edge activities that suggest directions for future libraries.

The Minoh City Senba Library (International Studies Library), owned and operated by the University of Osaka as the designated administrator, is a unique library combining the functions of a municipal library with those of the UOsaka Foreign Studies Library.

It was recognized for leveraging this integrated operation of a municipal and university library to serve as an active hub, bridging citizens and the university, the local community and the world, and implementing numerous collaborative initiatives with university faculty, students, and local organizations. The University of Osaka and University Libraries will continue and extend these initiatives, promoting communal collaboration and social contribution.
