🔴 Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai x The University of Osaka! 🔵 UOsaka Expo Day Held

On Sunday, September 7, “UOsaka Expo Day” was held at the TEAM EXPO Pavilion in the Expo Future Life Village of the Expo 2025. The event showcased the university's diverse initiatives under the theme, “Let the world know about Japan!” UOsaka has previously thrown a total of six Expo-themed talk events during the spring “Icho Festival” and the fall “Machikane Festival.” This event served as a culmination, calling attention to our efforts to address social issues.

The event featured four exhibition booths, providing three entry time slots. A total of ten booths showcased their activities through videos and exhibits, including student groups working on social issues: a-tune , Fukushima Prefecture Reconstruction Support Group Hamadeizu , UOsaka Rovers , Flagship , the MeW Project , UOsaka “DAIGAKU” Development Team , AIESEC UOsaka Committee , and High School-University Collaboration Education Group SUIT . “Dr. Wani,” UOsaka's official mascot character, also made an appearance at the venue and posed for photos with visitors. There were many children, and the original limited-edition stamp for the UOsaka Expo day was popular, attracting a long queue of people.

At the stage event held at 6:30 PM, Shoji Kawamori, an animation director and the thematic project producer for the Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai, gave a keynote speech titled "Life is about Combination and Transformation!" He addressed the audience, stating, “The ecosystem cannot function with humanity alone. I hope that this Expo will serve as an opportunity for us to reflect on ‘life’ as a whole.”

Next, Takuo Domo, senior advisor to the president of UOsaka and director of the Social Solution Initiative, explained the “Inochi Declaration” scheduled to be issued at the “Inochi Forum” to be held at the end of the Expo, with the University of Osaka at the center of the initiative. Three student groups also gave presentations on their activities. The event concluded with a five-person panel discussion, "Inochi Forum: The Future Society 5 Envisioned by Youth," featuring three members of the Expo Student Committee. Praising the students' activities, Kawamori stated, "Waste did not naturally exist in the first place and was brought about by humanity. We must restore the recycling system." The discussion was moderated by Mayu Ogawa, a freelance announcer and UOsaka graduate.
