The University of Osaka Joins IKUKYU.PJT, a Project to Promote Childcare Leave for Men
The University of Osaka has joined IKUKYU.PJT, a project to promote childcare leave for men sponsored by Sekisui House Ltd.
Sekisui House, which encourages male workers at the company and throughout Japan to take childcare leave of one month or longer, implements this project with the goal of increasing momentum to create a society in which male workers can take childcare leave as a matter of common sense. This has allowed 100% of its eligible male employees to take at least one month of childcare leave.
The company will release promotion videos and share information from companies that approve the project on and around September 19, a commemorative day to celebrate its Day to Think About Childcare Leave.
The University of Osaka, which makes efforts to raise awareness by holding seminars and distributing leaflets with an eye to bringing the rate of men taking childcare leave to nearly 100% in AY2027, as stated in its Business Owner Action Plan, has agreed with the idea of Sekisui House and hence joined this project since AY2023.
This year, as one of the supporting organizations, UOsaka faculty and staff members who have taken childcare leave share their experiences in the online photo exhibition "Dads on Childcare Leave with Kids," planned and produced by the online parenting media "AERA with Kids" in collaboration with the project.
