Japan Post Insurance Co., Ltd. & UOsaka Held a Meeting to Promote Collaboration
Japan Post Insurance Co., Ltd. and the University of Osaka held a meeting to promote collaboration on August 7th on the Suita Campus.
The University of Osaka and Japan Post Insurance signed a memorandum of understanding on January 31, 2023, and have since been working on initiatives to create a future society through co-creation and to promote fund circulation centered on academia. Since 2023, executives and stakeholders from both sides have gathered alternately in Osaka and Tokyo to discuss progress on initiatives and future activities. The meeting was held in Osaka this time.
Following opening remarks by UOsaka President Atsushi Kumanogoh and Kunio Tanigaki, Director and President/CEO/Representative Executive Officer of Japan Post Insurance, attendees toured the university's research and incubation facilities with the theme of “Considering ‘Life’ – Enhancing People's Well-being.” First, Yoko Sakamoto, specially appointed lecturer at the Graduate School of Medicine, Department of Cardiovascular Medicine/D3 Center, explained her research on heart failure and a collaborative research project with a UOsaka-originated startup, Remohub Inc. Next, Kazunari Hanada, Executive Officer of Japan Post Insurance, introduced their research into radio exercise routine initiatives at Japan Post Insurance. Following this, Katsuto Tamai, Director and CSO of StemRIM Inc., another UOsaka spin-off startup, explained the development of regenerative induction medicine and the relationship between the mind and pharmaceutical development. Subsequently, Professor Takashi Shimbo of the Collaborative Research Institute for Regenerative Induction Medicine gave a tour of the research facilities.
Furthermore, at the Center for Infectious Disease Education and Research (CiDER), Professor Kazutake Tsujikawa of the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences introduced research to support future drug discovery at CiDER and the activities of a UOsaka university-originated startup, HOIST Corp.
Many attendees at the meeting commented that they had “wished to stay longer to learn more," indicating a high level of satisfaction with the meeting as well as a keen interest in UOsaka's research and incubation activities.
The research presentations and the tour of the incubation site not only enhanced understanding of our university's research seeds and social implementation but also served as a great opportunity to share insights into and perspectives on future collaboration with the theme of “mental and physical wellbeing,” which is of particular importance for both our university and Japan Post Insurance Co., Ltd.
We will continue to further deepen our collaboration based on the MOU and advance efforts to promote fund circulation centered around academia.
