Inter-University Exchange Agreement Signed between COLMEX-CEAA and UOsaka Global Japanese Studies Education and Research Incubator

The University of Osaka has been strongly promoting the development of an international academic platform. In this context, we have been strengthening the activities of the Global Japanese Studies Education and Research Incubator, which leverages the forte of the university. In addition to the Japanese studies institutions in North America, Europe, Asia, and Oceania with which we have already concluded MOUs for the establishment of gateways, we plan to develop new networks in the Global South and expand our collaboration opportunities worldwide under the vision of “Live Locally, Grow Globally.”

As part of our efforts to expand our activities in the Global South, the Global Japanese Studies Education and Research Incubator has signed an academic exchange agreement with the Center for the Study of Asia and Africa of the College of Mexico (COLMEX-CEAA), which plays a central role in Asian studies in Latin American and Spanish-speaking countries as well as focuses on Japanese studies.

On July 9, José Antonio Cervera, Director of COLMEX-CEAA, visited the UOsaka Suita Campus. From our university, among others, Yoichi Miyamoto, Executive Vice President and Director of the Global Japanese Studies Education and Research Incubator, attended and shared their vision for strengthening future collaboration in education and research, then signed the academic exchange agreement.

Prior to the visit of the COLMEX-CEAA director, in December 2024, Professor Matías Ariel Chiappe Ippolito from the Center visited UOsaka with his graduate students, where Professor Ippolito gave a lecture and graduate students presented their research, resulting in a mutually beneficial educational and research exchange. The conclusion of this agreement is based on these achievements.
