Title of the University of Osaka Global Alumni Fellow awarded to Professor Yunjiang Wang and Professor Wega Trisunaryanti

On June 9 and 10, 2025, the title-awarding ceremony for the University of Osaka Global Alumni Fellow took place at the university. The title of Global Alumni Fellow is conferred on UOsaka alumni who are active overseas in building an international network.

On the 9th, Professor Yunjiang Wang of the Institute of Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, received the title from Executive Vice President Mikako Hayashi (in charge of Global Engagement). After coming to Japan as a JSPS Research Fellow, Professor Wang has since been involved in joint research with our university and student guidance as a designated professor in the Element Strategy Initiative. He is currently conducting research in computational materials science at the Institute of Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and frequently visits Japan to hold seminars, thereby contributing to the promotion of international exchange with the University of Osaka.

The ceremony was held in the presence of Professor Wang’s contact person, Professor Shigenobu Ogata of the Graduate School of Engineering Science, and they engaged in a lively discussion on a variety of topics, such as the status quo and challenges of the research environment in China, as well as the need to support female researchers.

On June 10, Professor Wega Trisunaryanti of the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada (Indonesia) received the title from Executive Vice President Mikako Hayashi (in charge of Global Engagement). Professor Wega completed her doctoral studies at the Graduate School of Engineering at our university. She is currently conducting research on nanocatalytic chemistry at Universitas Gadjah Mada and actively coordinating various student exchange programs, including short-term exchange programs for undergraduate students, as well as recommending students for government-sponsored scholarships.

The ceremony was held in the presence of Professor Wega’s contact person, Professor Hidehiro Sakurai of the Graduate School of Engineering, as well as Professor Emeritus Masakatsu Nomura, Professor Emeritus Masahiro Miura, and Professor Tetsuya Satoh of Osaka Metropolitan University. Professor Wega's family members also were in attendance and congratulated him on the award. They then discussed the plan for further strengthening collaboration through joint research and student exchange programs.
