Active collaboration with the industry earns The University of Osaka 2nd place in Japan in the Times Higher Education University Impact Rankings for 2025

On June 18, 2025, Times Higher Education (THE) released its University Impact Rankings* for 2025

The University of Osaka tied for 2nd among Japanese universities and placed 101st-200th in the world. When separated by category, The University of Osaka tied for first in Japan and 13th in the world for SDG9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) with a score of 99.9.

In THE World University Rankings 2025, a comprehensive global university ranking assessing research-intensive universities (released in 2024), The University of Osaka tied for 1st globally in the industry category thanks to its high industrial value of the research.

*THE University Impact Rankings: These rankings evaluate university performance on the United Nations’ 17 SDGs (such as gender equality, good health, and well-being) in 4 broad areas: research, stewardship, outreach, and teaching.
