Lecture in memory of OGATA Koan now available for viewing
Each year, a memorial service for late-Edo period doctor and Dutch scholar Ogata Koan is held at Tekijuku, around the date of OGATA Koan's death on June 10. Koan opened Tekijuku during the Edo period to practice education and medicine and Tekijuku is said to be a spiritual origin of the University of Osaka.
On the day of memorial service, a memorial lecture was held to introduce the latest research achievements of UOsaka at Tekijuku (a national important cultural property).
On June 2, SEKIYA Tsuyoshi, Professor at SANKEN, the University of Osaka, delivered a lecture entitled “Expanding Knowledge, Connecting Towns and the World: Future-oriented Infrastructure and Sensing Technology Inheriting the Vision of Koan Ogata.” He spoke about research development and social implementation initiatives aimed at realizing a sustainable and inclusive society through the collaboration of knowledge and technology.
