Toyonaka Co-Creation Building B Opening Ceremony Held

On May 14, 2025, the opening ceremony was held for the Toyonaka Co-Creation Building B, an education and research building built on the university’s Toyonaka Campus. Approximately 100 guests were in attendance.

The building is a seven-story education and research facility (total floor space: approximately 5,047 square meters) that was constructed as a "Center for Development of Co-Creative Environment" by integrating the university's various financial resources with subsidies for facility improvement from the National University Corporation.

At the ceremony, President Kumanogoh Atsushi expressed his strong determination, stating, "In this facility, researchers from both industry and academia will collaborate to further promote open innovation with the aim of creating groundbreaking technologies and services." He added, "We hope to create an environment just like the old Tekijuku, the original foundation of the University of Osaka, where young people can gather freely, come into contact with different values and perspectives, learn together, and improve themselves. We anticipate that the Toyonaka Co-Creation Building B will produce numerous innovators who will transform local communities, Japan, and the world, as well as young leaders who will pioneer the future society, and we will strive to make this ambition a reality.”

Mr. Takashi Kasahara, Director General of the Education Facilities Planning and Disaster Prevention Division, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (represented by Mr. Mitsugu Hirota, Head of the same division), expressed his expectation that the facility would become a co-creation hub of innovative values where the achievements of the University of Osaka can be shared and effectively utilized by various stakeholders.

Following this, Mr. Masanori Ozaki, Executive Vice President in charge of finance and facilities, gave an overview of the facility.
