UOsaka Homecoming Day 2025 Held

On May 3, 2025, UOsaka Homecoming Day 2025 was held on the Toyonaka Campus.

The lectures and social gathering were held with UEDA Etsuko (a year-2000 graduate from the School of Human Sciences) as an emcee, with approximately 250 people in attendance, including alumni and graduates of the University of Osaka and Osaka University of Foreign Studies, current students, parents, faculty and staff, strengthening the bonds they share as the "UOsaka family."s

The lectures, held at the University of Osaka Hall, began with a status update from President KUMANOGOH Atsushi, followed by greetings from KISHIMOTO Tadamitsu, Chairman of the Federation of Alumni Associations of the University of Osaka. s

Three UOsaka professors then delivered the following three lectures:

  • “The University of Osaka Inherits the Treasures of Kaitokudo, the Academic Institution for the then Osaka Townspeople" by Professor KADOWAKI Mutsumi, Graduate School of Humanities
  • “The METEOR Project: Fusion of Earth Sciences, Crystal Engineering, and Medicine - Overcoming the Barriers of the Mind” by Professor MARUYAMA Mihoko, Graduate School of Engineering
  • “The Future Prospect of Stem Cell Medicine: Pioneering Human Metaverse Metabolic Medicine” by Professor NISHIDA Kohji, Graduate School of Medicine/The University of Osaka Premium Research Institute for Human Metaverse Medicine (PRIMe)

With the high level of interest among the audience, there was a lively Q&A session after each lecture, and the session was extended.

The social gathering held at cafeteria Kasane (in the UOsaka Student and Service Union) began with a call for toast by YOSHIKAWA Hideki (chairman of the Igaku Shinko Icho-kai, the alumni association for the School of Medicine), and the emcee UEDA Etsuko interviewed several participants. The event served as a socializing opportunity, bringing the participants ever closer to each other and creating connections across the boundaries of their home faculties, graduate schools, and generations.

With closing remarks by Senior Executive Vice President FUJIO Yasushi, Homecoming Day 2025 came to an end with great success.
