Welcome to Osaka University! 2025-26 Spring Entrance Ceremony held

The University of Osaka held its 2025-2026 Spring Entrance Ceremony under clear blue skies at Osaka-jo Hall on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, with 6,430 individuals (3,459 undergraduate students and 2,971 graduate students) entering the university.

At the ceremony, which began at 1:30 pm in a solemn atmosphere, two student representatives made oaths of admission.

In his speech, President Kumanogoh mentioned the roots of the university, which reach back to Tekijuku, a place where students would learn together and emulate each other rather than simply receiving knowledge. He then encouraged the new students to cherish their encounters with people and find their own fields in which they are “one and only” while working hard through friendly rivalry with diverse peers around them. After emphasizing that encounters with teachers and mentors have a great impact on their lives, he also congratulated the students, stating that it is up to them to decide how to make the most of the University of Osaka and whether to make encounters of each day worthwhile.

Finally, musical performances welcoming the new students were displayed by Osaka University's Symphony Orchestra, Mixed Chorus, and Male Chorus. The cheerleading Party also performed a dance, concluding the ceremony on a festive note.
