WPI-PRIMe International Symposium Held

On March 14, 2025, the international symposium "Osaka University Symposium, 3rd WPI-PRIMe International Symposium" was held at the Osaka International Convention Center (Grand Cube Osaka).

This was the 3rd WPI-PRIMe symposium held by the Center and was hosted jointly with the University of Osaka under the theme of “Towards Patient Biodigital Twin – for the Realization of Human Biodigital Twin”. It focuses on the new fields of biological modeling, bioinformatics, systems biology, and the biodigital twin.

The event began with an opening address by the university’s previous President Shojiro Nishio, congratulatory remarks from JSPS World Premier International Research Center Initiative Director Akira Ukawa, and an overview of the center by WPI-PRIMe Center Director Koji Nishida. In addition to special lectures by Prof. Gary Bader (University of Toronto) and Prof. Edda Klipp (Humboldt University Berlin), the program introduced an integrated wet and dry approach through three distinctive sessions; the symposium concluded with a closing address by the university’s Executive Vice President Takao Onoye.

In addition to oral presentations, researchers from the center and symposium participants actively exchanged opinions throughout the poster presentations by researchers from the center and informal discussions. The symposium was a great success, with approximately 110 people in attendance.
