2nd Osaka University School of Foreign Studies Symposium and Oktoberfest in OU Semba held

On Saturday, October 5, 2024, the 2nd Osaka University School of Foreign Studies Symposium was held in the Grand Hall at Minoh Theatre for the Performing Arts in cooperation with the Minoh Association for Global Awareness, the Osaka University Center for Japanese Language and Culture, the Osaka University Kaitokudo for the 21st Century, Minoh City, and the Minoh Board of Education.

The Minoh Campus, charged with a mission to provide information about Japanese language and culture to the world and connect local communities with the world through foreign area studies as an Osaka University Global Campus (OUGC), held a symposium to provide an opportunity for local people to learn and attracted some 900 participants.

We received comments from participants, such as “I was moved by the lecture about how to deal with words” and “I was able to deepen my knowledge,” which demonstrate that this symposium was a good opportunity for local people.

Following the symposium, in cooperation with Minoh-Beer Inc., the Oktoberfest in OU Semba was held on the pilotis on the 3rd floor, the OU Plaza, and the Minoh City Citizens Plaza, attracting some 850 attendees. They enjoyed Minoh Beer and local food offered from various restaurants while sharing their thoughts of the symposium.

On this day, as last year, the Minoh campus became a place of learning, culture and cooperation with the community through exchange among event participants, local residents, and businesses. The campus will become a hub for exchange in the Semba region revitalized by the extension of the Kita-Osaka Kyuko Railway.
