Talk with the President #2 held (AY2024)

The second session in the Talks with the President series for AY2024, in which President NISHIO Shojiro and OU students discuss key issues, was held in the President's Office on Wednesday, September 25, 2024.

The Student Life Committee has been holding these talk sessions since AY2019.

Six graduate students made presentations on the topics noted below under the theme of “How I Develop my Expertise -- What I Learn at OU and the Future Direction of my Research,” having lively discussions with President Nishio while exchanging opinions on each topic.

Topics

• Public pension system in aging society with few children
• Study approach taking into account practical work, as well as healthy balance between input and output
• How to develop a specialization area in a modern workplace environment
• Research that contributes to biology and medicine, the high level of research activity at OU, and the proportion of women in science fields
• Non-coding RNA
• Positive attitude and communication skills for medical researchers

Eight talk sessions are scheduled for this academic year: one session will be held each month.
