Professor TAKEBE Takanori receives Ig Nobel Prize

A group of Japanese and American scientists, including Professor TAKEBE Takanori (Graduate School of Medicine/WPI Premium Research Institute for Human Metaverse Medicine of Osaka University), has won this year’s Ig Nobel Prize for discovering that many mammals, such as pigs, are capable of breathing through their anus.

This discovery is expected to be used to treat respiratory failure combined with coronavirus disease and other infectious diseases.

The Ig Nobel Prizes were founded in 1991 to honor research achievements that make people laugh and then think as a parody of the Nobel Prizes.
