OU startups receive a visit from Panasonic Director TSUGA Kazuhiro

Mr. TSUGA Kazuhiro (Director and Chairperson of the Board, Panasonic Holdings Corporation) visited Osaka University to inspect its startups on Monday, August 26, 2024.

Following a courtesy visit to President NISHIO Shojiro, Mr. Tsuga and his group visited the Co-Creative Innovation Building to hear about the university’s strategies for intellectual properties, efforts to create startups, and entrepreneurship education from Executive Vice President KANEDA Yasufumi.

After learning about Osaka University Venture Capital Co., Ltd. from its CEO, SHIMIZU Hayami, the visiting group shared their thoughts and met with representatives from three OU-launched startups: EX-Fusion, Microwave Chemical Co., Ltd., and Thinker Inc.

First, at EX-Fusion, after listening to the company’s efforts, especially efforts to achieve laser fusion energy, and the company’s technology roadmap, the group talked about the company’s future business plan with the company’s representatives.

Next, the group received explanation of its endeavors at the Microwave Chemical Co., Ltd. based in the Photonics Center (PARC) and viewed experimental equipment at the center and laboratories in the Building F1 of the Graduate School of Engineering. (PARC is the graduate school-affiliated organization.)

On the last leg of the tour, the group visited the Graduate School of Engineering Science to hear about the unique sensing technology of Thinker Inc., exchanged opinions about its application, and viewed a demonstration of robot hands.

For the university, this visit was a great opportunity to show its endeavors to venture into the unknown.
