Presidential Awards for Excellence in Extracurricular Activities

The award ceremony for the 25th Presidential Awards for Excellence in Extracurricular Activities was held on Wednesday, July 31, 2024.

Presidential Awards for Excellence in Extracurricular Activities were established to recognize outstanding extracurricular activities and invigorate and improve student extracurricular activity participation in 2000.

From 19 nominations, including 4 from sports-oriented clubs, 7 from culture-oriented clubs, and 8 from other groups and individuals, the following individuals received the 25th Presidential Awards for Excellence in Extracurricular Activities.

Outstanding Achievement Award

Osaka University Competitive Programming Circle "RAINBOU"
- Placed 3rd of 34 universities to receive a bronze medal at ICPC 2023 Asia Yokohama, a first for the university

MATSUSHITA Takumi (Automobile Club) (graduated from the Graduate School of Engineering Science in March 2024)
- Selected as a driver in Toyota’s WRC Challenge Program

KOIKE Hiromi (4th year, School of Foreign Studies)
- Poem selected to be read at the 2024 New Year's Poetry Reading held at the Imperial Palace

MATSUSHIMA Minami (3rd year, School of Human Sciences)
- Overall Best Speaker at the 2023 Northeast Asian Debating Championships (NEADC)

Special Recognition Award

Karate Club
- Top 8, Women’s Kumite, 64th All Kansai University Karate Championships

Karuta Club
- B1 Level Champions, 108th National Student Karuta (a card matching game) Tournament

Shogi Club
- 5th place, National Student Shogi Oza Championship

KAMIYA Yuki (4th year, School of Engineering)
- Platinum Prize, Student’s Idea Factory 2023
