Admission quotas for School of Engineering and School of Engineering Science will increase from AY2025
Osaka University was selected for the project “Functional Enhancement of Universities and National Institutes of Technology Initiative 2023 sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).
In line with this, the university applied to MEXT for an increase in admission numbers, resulting in the approval for an increase of 33 for its School of Engineering and 27 for School of Engineering Science.
These schools will establish courses to deepen the understanding of latest technology in artificial intelligence, big data, and IoT devices to provide new students with sophisticated information technology education from AY2025. They will also make curriculum models based on the concept of integration of information technology and other disciplines, providing interdisciplinary education.
In addition, OU will provide advanced informatics and mathematics education from the undergraduate to graduate level, and cultivate advanced information specialists with basic knowledge and practical abilities by bringing together outstanding faculties and researchers in information science at OU, which earns high praise in the quality of research in information technology.
The university intends to proceed with the procedures for application to MEXT for an increase in admission numbers (some 45) in the Graduate School of Information Science and Technology and the Graduate School of Engineering Science from 2029.
